Actor Lee Joon-ki revealed the reason why he decided to appear in the drama “Again My Life”, the work that he refused once.
At the press conference for SBS’s new Friday-Saturday drama “Again My Life” (written by J and Kim Yul/ directed by Han Chul-soo and Kim Young-min”), Lee Joon-ki said that he first refused to appear in this work because he was concerned that he would replicate himself.
Lee Joon-ki said, “The reason why I had lots of worries at first was that I already played active and leading roles as well as showing various action and emotional acting in my previous works so I was afraid that I might repeat myself one again. That’s why it took me such a long to think and give my decision on the work”.
Recalling when he refused to appear in “Again My Life”, the actor said, “I was so sorry to have turned down such a work. But since I was trying to invest time for myself, I politely refused once because I said to myself ‘Let’s take on a work with a new resolution’”.
Based on the web novel of the same name by Lee Hae-nal, the drama “Again My Life” tells about the delightful revenge of Kim Hee-woo, who returns to the past 15 years and becomes a capable prosecutor while living his second life to take down the evil guy who killed him.
Lee Joon-ki has been in charge of characters that struggle with ‘blood, sweat and tears’ in various works. He will take on the role of prosecutor Kim Hee-woo, who builds his skills and faces the powerful crime Jo Tae-seob after receiving the chance to live a second life, in “Again My Life”.
The script of “Again My Life” went back to Lee Joon-ki, who refuse it once, and this time he accepted the casting offer. Lee Joon-ki said, “I think it was really meant for me. When I couldn’t give an answer to my works after much consideration, thankfully, I was given the opportunity once again”, adding, “I read the script more carefully and with a different thought in the second time”.
Regarding his “self-replication” concern that he was worried about before, Lee Joon-ki said, “I thought if I play another character that I kept thinking a lot about it, I could show something new to the viewers”. The actor said he believed that Kim hee-woo might look similar to his existing characters but could give a different feeling.
He added, “After meeting with the director, I was convinced. The director said he wanted to provide cool things to the viewers during frustrating and difficult times like these days, which was just in line with me. I decided to join and make this drama as a gift like that”.
“Again My Life”, which deals with the revenge of a passionate prosecutor who lives his second life, will premiere at 10 p.m on April 8th after “Through the Darkness” ends.
