On June 4, actor Lee Jong Suk uploaded the second episode of his Italian travel series, titled “Lee Jong Suk’s Romantic Journey Through Italy 2,” to his YouTube channel. After completing a photo shoot, Lee walked through the streets of Florence and stopped by a baby clothing store while heading out for gelato.
Thinking of his nephews, nieces, and his acquaintances’ children, he began choosing several gifts. “A lot of babies have been born around me,” Lee said. “I want to buy something for this family’s child and that family’s child too.” After purchasing multiple outfits, the production team jokingly called him a “big spender in Florence.”
Lee later returned to an accessories store that one of his staff members had shown interest in the previous day. He explained that his stylist, Hye-young, had been carefully looking at a necklace there. At first, Lee misunderstood the price and assumed it was relatively affordable. However, he soon discovered that the necklace cost €1,380, approximately 2.45 million won.
The item was decorated with diamonds and emeralds, while rising gold prices had reportedly increased its value. Although surprised by the price, Lee ultimately decided to buy it. The purchase did not go smoothly. His card company initially rejected the payment after identifying the overseas transaction as potentially fraudulent. “I couldn’t buy the necklace,” Lee said with disappointment.
After directly contacting the card company, he returned to the store and successfully completed the transaction on his second attempt. “Buying a gift isn’t easy,” he joked as he left the shop. During a meal, Lee personally handed the gift box to his stylist. She was visibly moved and revealed that she had once lost a necklace with a similar design that her father had given her.
Lee also discussed his future acting ambitions during the video. “Before I get any older, I want to try things I have never done before,” he said. “I would like to appear in a historical drama. I definitely want to play a king at least once.”
His comments raised curiosity about whether viewers may eventually see him take on his first royal role in a historical production.
