Lee Hyori “Looks are important as much as what’s on the inside matters”

Singer Lee Hyori honestly shared her thoughts on appearance

On Oct 13th, Lee Hyori conducted a live broadcast to interact with fans. It was in line with the release of her new song “HOODIE E BANBAJI”.

Lee Hyori shared that she’s planning to appear on various YouTube channels at the request of fans. She mentioned, “I’m going to appear on ‘No Back Tak Jae-hoon’ because I want to meet Tak Jae-hoon.” Having recently appeared on Shin Dong-yup’s YouTube channel, Lee Hyori shared, “I had a fun conversation with Shin Dong-yup after a long time.

When asked about her current approach to appearance, Lee Hyori stated, “My biggest concern is appearance. I used to say, ‘What’s so important about looks? They’re not necessary. What’s on the inside is more important.’ But I now think that as much as what’s on the inside matters, looks are important, and you have to take care of them.

She continued, “Because I do advertisements, there’s an expectation as a model. So lately, I’m paying more attention. People usually say it’s best to consistently maintain (your appearance) rather than trying to improve it drastically at the last moment.

Lee Hyori accepted the compliments from fans about her appearance with humility. She mentioned that she has more wrinkles and her cheeks have sagged compared to her age, but she’s okay with it. She acknowledged that some people might be uncomfortable with it, but she’s still living a healthy and happy life.

When one fan referred to her as their “life’s role model”, Lee Hyori replied, “Many fans say that, so I’m grateful, and I feel like I should live better. I’ve never thought about my role model, but there are many cool people. People I can learn a lot from include Youn Yuh-jung, Uhm Jung-hwa and Kim Wan-sun. I used to find more to learn from seniors than myself, but these days, I find many things to learn from younger friends as well. Even though they are younger than me, it’s impressive how boldly and without prejudice they work.”
