Honey Lee Recalls Her Pregnancy Amid Drama Shooting Period, “I Prayed That God Would Protect The Child”
Lee Ha-nee looked back on her life, from her acting debut to childbirth
On November 28th, CBS uploaded on their YouTube channel a video featuring Honey Lee.
Making her debut in the entertainment industry as Miss Korea’s Jin in 2006, Honey Lee said, “I was in a master course and was a YG trainee. I was a very calm graduate student during the day, so I went to study early in the morning, took lessons, practiced instruments and went to work in the afternoon. I got trained at YG until dawn, got some sleep and went to school in the morning… in this pattern”. Regarding when she trained together with 2NE1 members, she said, “I was the oldest. I had Park Bom in the same team, and Minzy, Dara”.
Explaining how she ended up joining Miss Korea, Honey Lee said, “My mother thought that I would grow up pretty far from ordinary people. After how much she caught it, it was wrong to live normally. And then there were some arguments. My parents and I don’t often have trouble with each other, but at that time, my mom kept saying that she wanted me to participate in the Miss Korea competition”, adding “So I asked Pastor Ha about this, If he agreed, I would seriously consider the competition. I thought he would stop me from trying it”.
Honey Lee also confessed her feelings when suffering a slump after turning to acting. She said, “Actor is not something that I talk to people I’m an actor. It is someone that people call me as an actor. And I thought that I needed time”, adding “The fact that I have practiced Gayageum for a long time was a big lesson for me. Since I worked so hard, I knew that I was not fully yet. I know that there’s still a long way to go from training. I have to allow that time and it can be a year, three years or 10 years. So I thought I was too arrogant that I wanted it right away without pain and sweat”. She emphasized, “After spending 10 years like that, now people know me as actress Honey Lee rather than Miss Korea Lee Ha-nee”.
Honey Lee then mentioned her husband, saying “He was an extreme J, a scheduler. So we planned to get married in a pledge form before the drama ‘Wonder Woman’. We planned to introduce each of us to the other’s parents in November because we have parents in foreign countries and we thought of trying a test-tube baby because we were a little old”.
Honey Lee continued, “We expect God who would guide us much better than we planned. When I had a drama shoot ‘Wonder Woman’, we were a long-distance couple and he was on a business trip to Hong Kong for three months. I met him for a short time in September. I couldn’t imagine that I got pregnant during that period so I kept filming. One day, I woke up and my face was swollen. So I called my husband and told him about it. He told me to have a pregnancy test and it turned out to be real”. The actress, who filmed a lot of action scenes during that time, shared, “I just pray to God and hope he would protect the child. That’s how the baby survived”
