On July 25, the YouTube channel DdeunDdeun released a new episode titled Summer Vacation Special Lecture Is Just an Excuse, featuring Lee Dong-wook and actress Kim Hye-jun, who stars alongside him in the Disney+ original series A Shop for Killers 2.
Lee is currently filming the upcoming Netflix series The Facade of Love. During the show, Kim Hye-jun commented on his dramatic appearance, saying, “You’re filming a romance now, aren’t you? It’s been a while since I last saw you, and I was shocked because you’ve lost so much weight. You look so much slimmer.”
Lee explained that he had intentionally gained more than 7 kilograms while filming A Shop for Killers. “My character was a former mercenary turned assassin. My normal weight is around 74 to 75 kilograms, but during filming I went up to 82 kilograms,” he revealed.
Recalling the demanding process, the actor said, “I ate five meals a day. It was exhausting because I constantly had to eat chicken breast, beef, and other protein-rich foods.”
He continued by explaining that his current role required a completely different look. “I’m now filming The Facade of Love with Jung Yu-mi and Jeon So-nee, but it would have been difficult to play a civil servant with that physique. So I lost those seven kilograms again.”
Lee admitted that changing his weight has become increasingly difficult as he gets older. “It’s not as easy as it used to be to gain and lose weight,” he said. “I did 100 minutes of cardio every day 50 minutes on the Stairway to Heaven machine and another 50 minutes on a stationary bike.” He added that his current weight is approximately 73 kilograms.
