Singer Lee Chaeyeon reminisced about her time as a member of girl group IZ*ONE.
In a recent round interview held at a cafe in Hapjeong-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul to commemorate the release of her first single “The Move: Street”, Lee Chaeyeon talked about her experiences as a solo artist after her activities with IZ*ONE from October 2018 to April 2021. IZONE remains a highly sought-after girl group by global K-pop fans, and their past activities continue to be remembered through various online communities.
Lee Chaeyeon mentioned that her solo activities have allowed her to discover different aspects of herself. She stated that she was not a member who spoke a lot during group activities and usually provided reactions from behind. However, her solo career has allowed her to communicate more and discover her own charm. She mentioned the differences between performing in a group and as a solo artist, noting the increased responsibility of captivating the audience during a solo performance.
When asked about whether she misses her group activities, Lee Chaeyeon replied, “I miss them so much. I think it’s because I had the protection of the group. In the group, there were times when I could stand out when I wanted to and times when I could hide when I wanted to. But as a solo artist, I’m really on my own. So, I often think about wanting to be in a group again. However, I only want to do it with IZ*ONE. Everyone has found their place and supports each other, so I hope that someday we can meet again.”
Lee Chaeyeon also expressed satisfaction with her solo activities, especially after “KNOCK”. She credited her increased satisfaction to the support and love from many people. She expressed confidence in her upcoming activities and stated that she wants to continue working hard.
Finally, Lee Chaeyeon shared her determination for future activities, “I hope I don’t get hurt. I’m alone, so it’s my loss if I get injured. Since there’s no one to replace me, I want to complete my activities well and become a successful singer who can achieve what I want. I also want to win No.1 on music shows.”
Lee Chaeyeon will release her first single “The Move: Street” through various online music sites at 6 PM on Sep 6th.
