A potential “dream casting” is sending shockwaves through the K-drama world: Lee Byung-hun and Jun Ji-hyun are reportedly in talks to star in a new series titled The Koreans (working title). If confirmed, this would mark the first time the two global superstars have appeared on screen together in 26 years since the 1999 drama Happy Together.
This potential reunion is already generating immense buzz, not just for the star power of the cast but for the director attached to the project, Ahn Gil-ho, widely praised for his work on the hit series The Glory.

The upcoming Lee Byung-hun & Jun Ji-hyun drama is a remake of the popular U.S. FX series, The Americans. While the original was set during the Cold War, the Korean version will adapt the thrilling spy narrative to the tumultuous era of South Korea’s military dictatorship in the 1980s.
Unlike their previous roles as siblings in Happy Together, Lee Byung-hun and Jun Ji-hyun have been offered the lead roles as a married spy couple, promising a dynamic and intriguing on-screen chemistry.
The series is set to be produced by Studio AA, with a global OTT platform currently in discussions to distribute the high-budget project. While both actors are busy with other projects, including Jun Ji-hyun’s upcoming Disney+ series Polaris, the entertainment industry is eagerly watching for a final decision on this landmark casting.
