In a light-hearted yet jaw-dropping revelation, Lee Byung-hun confessed to raising a staggering 27 dogs before marrying actress Lee Min-jung, leaving fans—and hosts Yoo Jae-suk and Ji Suk-jin—completely stunned.

During a recent appearance on the YouTube variety talk show ‘뜬뜬 (DdeunDdeun)’, Lee Byung-hun, alongside co-stars Lee Sung-min and Yeom Hye-ran from the upcoming film No Other Choice, opened up about his life before marriage.

When asked if he currently has any pets, the veteran actor replied candidly: “Not now. But before I got married, when I was living with my mom, we had up to 27 dogs at one point.

The actor explained that more than half were medium to large breeds, and the overwhelming task of feeding and cleaning up after them eventually forced him to seek new homes for most of the dogs. Today, he keeps just about four dogs.

Feeding them was intense, but cleaning their poop? That was on a whole different level,” he laughed.

The discussion sparked a wave of nostalgia and camaraderie among the guests. Ji Suk-jin mentioned wanting a pet now that his child has grown, while Lee Sung-min suggested cats over dogs for their independence. He added humorously that his cat is a “dog-like” feline who flips over at the door to be petted and even follows him around like a loyal puppy.

While Yoo Jae-suk and Ji Suk-jin responded by acknowledging his love for dogs, reactions online were sharply divided.

Some netizens criticized the actor harshly, writing:

  • That’s basically animal hoarding.
  • So he took them in irresponsibly and then gave them all away? That’s neglect.
  • What about walks? There’s no way he could care for all of them properly.

Others defended him, arguing:

  • He found homes for them, so what’s the issue?
  • It’s not like he abandoned them—he arranged adoptions.

As of now, Lee Byung-hun has not issued an additional statement beyond his comments on the show, but the incident continues to stir heated discussion online.
