LE SSERAFIM’s Yunjin Sparks Mixed Reactions when Showcasing Her Raw Vocals at IU’s Concert

On March 9th, IU held the third night of her World Tour H.E.R in Seoul, South Korea. Following NewJeans and RIIZE, LE SSERAFIM took the stage as the next guest performer at IU’s concert. During the concert, LE SSERAFIM treated the audience to the performance of “Easy” and “Eve, Psyche & the Bluebeard’s wife.”

Returning with their new EP “Easy” and its title track, LE SSERAFIM has seen great success on music charts, but their recent live performances stirred up debate due to noticeable vocal flaws during the encore. Despite this, their stage presence at IU’s concert was well-received, showcasing strong dance skills.

However, some netizens noticed heavy use of backtrack during LE SSERAFIM performance. With their upcoming performance at Coachella, netizens are becoming increasingly concerned about the group’s ability to command the stage.

Yunjin boldly sang a part of IU’s song “dlwlrma” raw

Amidst the ongoing debate, main vocalist Huh Yunjin also faced controversy alongside Sakura for her vocals. During IU’s concert, Yunjin boldly sang a part of IU’s song “dlwlrma” without vocal support. Covering IU’s music has always been a challenge for new-generation idols, requiring solid vocal techniques. Yunjin’s performance received mixed reactions once again.

While her stage presence remained strong, Yunjin’s voice sounded somewhat shaky, with weak breath control and noticeable pitch issues, despite the group’s earlier smooth performance of “Easy.”

Yunjin’s recent vocal performances have left many puzzled. Despite her proficiency in songwriting and stable live performances, Yunjin’s vocal weaknesses have become more apparent as she promotes with LE SSERAFIM.

Netizens left comments:

  • Maybe the award for “Record of the Year” at year-end award shows should go to the producer who can fix the vocals of weak live singers like this.
  • Was her singing not great because she was too focused on looking “slay”?
  • Every time her voice cracked, her eyes squinted, it was kind of funny to watch.
  • She used to sound okay singing live with her natural voice, what happened?
  • Back when she hadn’t debuted, her voice was really good. She would’ve been considered one of the top vocalists on Produce 48, effortlessly hitting high notes in “Into The New World.” But since her debut, her voice has really declined. If even the main vocalist is struggling like this, does HYBE not provide vocal training for their groups at all?
  • How will she perform at Coachella? HYBE should focus on improving their skills
