On November 21, a topic titled “LE SSERAFIM’s Sakura also enjoyed ‘Made in Abyss’” was published on the Korean forum “theqoo”.

In particular, the author of a topic include an audio clip of Sakura back when she was a member of IZ*ONE, where the female idol said, “I want to recommend it, ‘Made in Abyss’ is also fun. It’s a bit sad, but it’s in the same vein as ‘The Promised Neverland’ and I cried quite a bit.”

Meanwhile, various male idols have come under fire for mentioning “Made in Abyss”, a dark fantasy manga/anime with various controversial scenes, ranging from t*rture to child s*xualization.

So far, opinions have been divided, with many finding the series unacceptable. However, many anime fans are stepping up to defend the series, and fans of the idols are clarifying that the series is heavily censored in South Korea.

Below are some comments from netizens under the post about Sakura:

  • I find it perplexing that people can find gore fun to watch
  • But there are a lot of people who recommend it, so this is just divided between people who like it and people who don’t?
  • Public figures should be more alert and avoid mentioning content with topics like this…
  • I’m not surprised because she’s Japanese
  • I really enjoyed the first season but season 2 never came to Korea
