LE SSERAFIM’s Kim Garam received cold treatment following her school violence controversy
Kim Garam’s situation after debuting in LE SSERAFIM is a hot topic among netizens.
As the first girl group to debut under HYBE Labels, LE SSERAFIM quickly drew attention in the Kpop scene. However, despite being pushed by the company, member Kim Garam got into a serious bullying scandal, earning a huge number of anti fans and negative reactions from the public.
Against all the controversies, HYBE Labels quickly refuted all allegations and stated that all of them had been false, at the same time threatening to sue the accusers. However, most netizens didn’t believe the company and turned their back on who they think is a school bully.
At the moment, LE SSERAFIM are promoting their first album “FEARLESS”, and so often appear on outdoor stages and fansigns. During these events, while 5 out of 6 members, including Sakura, Chaewon, Kazuha, Yunjin, and Eunchae, find themselves amid praise, Kim Garam is treated coldly by fans and the public.
In particular, a fan has compiled a series of footage, showing K-netizens’ harsh treatment towards this member. These videos clearly highlight the stark difference between how they react to Garam and the rest of the group. The first clip shows LE SSERAFIM coming out of their car. Other members were greeted with excitement and cheers, but the moment Garam stepped out, everyone went silent.
In another video that showed the group doing aegyo, Korean fans also treated Garam harshly. While they cooed and praised Kazuha and Yunjin, nobody bothered to give Garam any reaction. Comments of netizens under the video were all full of the word “bully”.
Many Korean and international fans of LE SSERAFIM were baffled at these treatments, especially after HYBE’s denial. However, the media did not let things go and even mentioned the controversy during the group’s debut showcase.
As of the moment, reactions are quite mixed. Some netizens believe that HYBE and Source Music should have delayed the debut until the full truth comes out, while others pointed out that as an underaged idol, Kim Garama should receive more protection from her own agency.
