LE SSERAFIM to release debut documentary, “HYBE is a good company. What’s the challenge there?”

HYBE will release a debut documentary for “monster rookie” girl group LE SSERAFIM

Recently, a trailer video was dropped, which started with the narration “HYBE’s a good company, but what’s the challenge when you go there?”, to which HYBE Labels’ chairman Bang Si Hyuk answered while laughing, “What are you talking about?”

It then continued with more questions, “Why are you debuting again at that age? What do you want to do?”, directed towards Sakura, and “It’s natural to want to be successful”, directed towards Kim Chaewon

In the past, mixed reactions roused when it was announced that Sakura and Kim Chaewon from the project group IZ*ONE, which enjoyed great popularity in Korea and Japan, would join the first girl group to debut under BTS’s agency HYBE. Responses at the time went from “success is guaranteed in such a safe company”, to “it will be rather burdensome”.

Now, it is confirmed on September 16th, that the first girl group to debut under HYBE, LE SSERAFIM will release a debut documentary featuring their honest story.

A day before, HYBE Labels released a trailer for this documentary titled, “LE SSERAFIM – The World Is My Oyster” on their official YouTube channel.

The documentary’s title, “The World Is My Oyster”, stems from the intro song of LE SSERAFIM’s debut album “FEARLESS”, which was released in May. It contains the meaning of “I will not give in to the world and instead will eventually make it my own.”

In this documentary, the debut process of LE SSERAFIM, which has never been seen before, will be fully unveiled. The goal is to record the appearance of the members without adornment and lies.

The new trailer begins with an interview with HYBE’s chairman Bang Si Hyuk, who’s also the executive producer of LE SSERAFIM. He hinted that the story of “HYBE’s first girl group” will be unfolded.

In the interview with the members that followed, Sakura talked about her worries ahead of her third debut. Sakura debuted as a member of the Japanese girl group HKT48 in 2011, and joined AKB48 activities. She enjoyed great popularity locally, before re-challenging as a K-pop idol through Mnet’s “Produce 48” in 2018. In the end, Sakura ended up being selected as a member of the finalist group IZ*ONE, which later gained popularity in both Korea and Japan.

Next, Kim Chaewon, also from IZ*ONE, honestly revealed her desire for success. Another member, Huh Yunjin, revealed her feelings when she received the offer to join the team, while the youngest member Hong Eunchae, confessed her feelings immediately after hearing the news of her debut. Finally, there’s Kazuha, who came to Korea to pursue a new dream after studying ballet in the Netherlands.

LE SSERAFIM’s agency Source Music, which is a subsidiary of HYBE, said, “The joy of members from various backgrounds being united as a team was brief, and they had to practice hard for their debut and faced numerous frustrations and tears in the process. We will quickly show their joys and sorrows of being on the debut stage.”

Immediately after their debut, LE SSERAFIM received plenty of attention, selling over 400,000 copies for their debut album. Their debut song, “FEARLESS”, managed to enter the Billboard Global (Excld. US) chart for 19 weeks in a row.

LE SSERAFIM, who is about to release the documentary, said through her agency Source Music, “We captured the thoughts and concerns we had in the past and present in the video without any hesitation. Through the documentary, we showed you all of LE SSERAFIM as it is. While filming, we even thought, ‘Can I be this honest?’ We would appreciate it if many people watch the documentary.”

There will be a total of 4 documentary episodes starring LE SSERAFIM. The first entire episode will be released on HYBE Labels’ official YouTube channel at 8 PM (KST) on September 17th.
