LE SSERAFIM refutes allegations of copying Rosalía “Our songs and concepts are unique creations”

LE SSERAFIM opened up about allegations of similarity between their title track “UNFORGIVEN” and Spanish singer Rosalía’s song “Chicken Teriyaki”.

On the afternoon of May 1st, LE SSERAFIM held a media showcase at Yes24 Live Hall in Gwangjang-dong, Gwangjin-gu, Seoul to commemorate the release of their first full-length album “UNFORGIVEN”.

LE SSERAFIM’s new title track “UNFORGIVEN” is a song sampled from the main theme OST of the Western film “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly”. Famous American guitarist-producer Nile Rodgers participated in the guitar featuring to enhance the song’s completeness. Following the previous work, LE SSERAFIM also contained the message “We will break away from the rules set by the world and go our own way” in the new song.

However, unexpected noise arose after some of the music and performance of “UNFORGIVEN” were revealed before the comeback. Many netizens raised suspicions that some sections of “UNFORGIVEN” are similar to the melody of Spanish singer Rosalía’s song “Chicken Teriyaki”.

Regarding this, Kim Chaewon gave an indirect refutation, saying, “Our songs and concepts contain our stories and messages, so it’d be nice if you think of them as unique creations.

LE SSERAFIM’s first full-length album “UNFORGIVEN” will be released on major music sites at 6 PM on the same day.
