LE SSERAFIM Has Become First Rookie To Have Annual Sales Exceeding $14.6 Million In Japan Since 2003

According to Japan’s Oricon Annual Ranking 2023 on January 5th, LE SSERAFIM recorded 2.12 billion yen ($14.6 million) in sales last year. The tally period is from December 12, 2022 to December 10, 2024.

Oricon explained, “It is the first time in 20 years since 2003 that a female group has exceeded 2 billion yen in sales based on the rookie ranking.”

The rookies’ rankings are determined by summing up sales of singers’ single, album, streaming and music DVD. The sales of LE SSERAFIM were measured by streaming (49%), single (31%), album (18%) and download (2%).

Considering that various performances and advertising fees were not counted, including the group’s first solo tour, which attracted a total of 60,000 audiences in Japan alone, their overall performance in Japan last year will be greater, the agency Source Music predicted.

LE SSERAFIM is gaining huge popularity in Japan, appearing on NHK’s Red & White Year-end Song Festiva for the second consecutive year. Their first English single “Perfect Night” also topped Japanese music charts.
