LE SSERAFIM got a last chance “Will their upcoming Coachella performance be a ‘good stage’ or ‘operating table’?”

On April 20th~21st (Korean time), ATEEZ (Hongjoong, Seonghwa, Yunho, Yeosang, San, Mingi, Wooyoung, Jongho) and LE SSERAFIM (Kim Chaewon, Sakura, Huh Yunjin, Kazuha, Hong Eunchae) will once again take the stage at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.

Coachella, the world’s largest music festival known for its tradition and prestige since 1999, attracts over 200,000 spectators annually and serves as the “dream stage” for numerous musicians, inviting artists who possess both mainstream popularity and musicality.

Previously, on April 13th~14th, ATEEZ and LE SSERAFIM respectively performed on stage.

ATEEZ will perform at the Sahara Stage on April 20th from 2:45 PM to 3:35 PM.

On April 13th, ATEEZ became the first K-pop boy group to enter Coachella.

ATEEZ presented a total of 10 songs, including “Say My Name”, “HALA HALA”, “Guerrilla”, “Crazy Form”, “ROCKY”, “The Real”, “ARRIBA”, “DJANGO”, “BOUNCY (K-HOT CHILLI PEPPERS)” and “WONDERLAND”.

LE SSERAFIM, heading to the Coachella stage on April 21st, will perform at the Sahara Stage from 2:50 PM to 3:30 PM.

Following in the footsteps of BLACKPINK and aespa, LE SSERAFIM garnered attention from overseas media even before their performance.

The renowned music magazine Rolling Stone mentioned, “LE SSERAFIM’s world-conquering moment is almost here. The K-pop group prepares to take things to an even higher level, with a ‘Coachella’ performance and much more. When you witness the confidence, composure and professionalism that LE SSERAFIM bring to every performance, it can be hard to believe that they’re only in their second year as a group.”

On April 14th, LE SSERAFIM presented a total of 10 songs, including “ANTIFRAGILE”, “FEARLESS”, “The Great Mermaid”, “UNFORGIVEN”, “Eve, Psyche & the Bluebeard’s wife”, “Perfect Night”, “Smart”, “EASY” and “Fire in the belly” as well as an unreleased song.

During their performance, LE SSERAFIM showcased a powerful stage presence. However, despite maintaining a high intensity throughout the stage, LE SSERAFIM struggled with singing properly and appeared increasingly strained towards the end.

In Korea, LE SSERAFIM faced controversies, including suspicions of lip-syncing during concerts, which eventually led to debates about LE SSERAFIM’s vocal ability.

Especially, even overseas fans, who are generally tolerant of issues like dating and drugs, criticized LE SSERAFIM’s vocal skills, further fueling the controversy this time.

However, after the controversy, Sakura showed confidence through Weverse, “Each person has their own standard. And the standards also vary depending on the type of stage. I think the show was enjoyable anyway, even for people who didn’t know us and people who listened to our music for the first time! I always wanted to create a stage that would make me think ‘Today was such an unforgettable day!’. And with that determination, we already delivered the best performance. Our group, which is only in the second year after our debut and has just held a tour once, poured all our efforts for this Coachella performance, by singing to the best of our hearts and enjoying the stage. We may look immature in someone’s eyes, however, it is obvious that no one is perfect and this was the best stage we have ever performed.“

This attitude ultimately led even fans who defended LE SSERAFIM as “a growing group” to turn away.

Fortunately, LE SSERAFIM was given another chance to redeem themselves. Whether LE SSERAFIM will receive applause for showing growth through their second week performance or return home with embarrassment will ultimately depend on the members themselves.
