Additionally, even during special Korean holidays like Chuseok, other groups would don traditional Korean clothes, except for LE SSERAFIM, who were only dressed in plain fashion.

Coupled with LE SSERAFIM’s previous controversies of using Japanese elements in their works, many netizens are now lashing at the girl group for not embracing Korean culture despite being a K-pop artist. On top of all this, Korea and Japan are known to have a tense relationship political-wise, leading to even heavier backlash.

Below are some comments from netizens:

  • Even IVE wore Hanbok despite having a Japanese member
  • Wow, they are truly pro-Japanese idol
  • It’s surprising that they don’t wear hanbok at least once…
  • Isn’t this just the company’s fault? It’s not like LE SSERAFIM have any say in this
  • They are basically a J-pop group~
