LE SSERAFIM accused of copying BLACKPINK after Rosalía, defended by netizens this time

Girl group LE SSERAFIM is embroiled in another “reference” controversy relating to BLACKPINK’s old MVs.

On May 1st, LE SSERAFIM made a long-awaited comeback with their first full-length album “UNFORGIVEN” and the “UNFORGIVEN (feat. Nile Rodgers)” MV. The song received a stable and promising digital chart and sales records.  Nonetheless, the group is caught in another controversy.

Specifically, on TikTok, a video pointing out overlaps between LE SSERAFIM’s “UNFORGIVEN” and BLACKPINK’s previous M/Vs. The part where Sakura pulled out a sword was similar to the same scene done by Lisa in “DDU-DU DDU-DU”; the dance break where the LE SSERAFIM held their hands up high also resembles a part in the “How You Like That” choreography; or the part Eunchae sliding on the ground was reminiscent of Rosé’s dance part in “Boombayah”.

However, this time, netizens showed their support for LE SSERAFIM. They believed those choreographies in question are commonplace and are present in many artists’ performances. Moreover, the similarities only exist if taken individually. If the moves are seen entirely, there are noticeable differences.
