On October 19, “Dou Xiao – Laurinda Ho Divorce” rocketed to the top of Weibo’s trending search list after renowned Hong Kong entertainment mogul Chen Lan revealed that the pair had officially filed for divorce.

According to Chen Lan, Dou Xiao and Laurinda Ho—the daughter of Macau casino tycoon Stanley Ho—have submitted the paperwork and are awaiting court proceedings to finalize their separation. The relationship has reportedly deteriorated, with ongoing arguments and deep emotional strain while awaiting the legal decision.

A Marriage Built on Unequal Ground

The root of the breakup, Chen Lan claims, lies in class disparity. Laurinda’s mother, Ina Chan, along with the wealthy Ho family, allegedly looked down on Dou Xiao due to his modest background and past work as a hair washer. The disapproval was evident even during the wedding process—the Ho family refused to contribute financially, leaving Dou Xiao to fund the entire wedding himself.

Additionally, Laurinda’s mother barred her daughter from transferring assets to Dou Xiao, refused to allow joint ownership, and prevented him from accessing any part of the family business. These restrictions reportedly made Dou Xiao feel isolated, disrespected, and controlled, eventually leading to separation.

In his divorce filing, Dou Xiao reportedly exposed how the Ho family controlled his life, pressured him to quit acting, and consistently belittled him, pushing him to the edge.

“He Thought Marrying Into Wealth Would Change His Life”

“He bet everything on this marriage,” said Chen Lan. “He thought marrying a billionaire heiress would change his life, but instead he lost everything. He paid for the wedding, but her family didn’t even buy them a home. They never truly accepted him because of the class gap.”

According to Chen Lan, Dou Xiao is now financially broke and emotionally exhausted, forced to return to the entertainment industry to rebuild his career—one that has suffered due to the scandal. “No matter how hard he works now, he can’t earn back what he spent trying to marry into that family.”

Longstanding Signs of Trouble

Over the past two years, the couple’s instability had already become a topic in Chinese media. Despite public denials from Laurinda Ho, fans observed a growing emotional distance between the two.

After their 2023 wedding, Laurinda returned to Hong Kong to live with her mother, while Dou Xiao remained in mainland China. The couple spent holidays apart and were rarely seen together in public. Laurinda didn’t visit Dou Xiao, and he was absent from major Ho family events, including her mother’s birthday and the memorial of her father, Stanley Ho.

By 2025, it became clear that they had ceased all social media interaction, further fueling speculation that the relationship had quietly collapsed.
