On October 19, “Dou Xiao – Laurinda Ho Divorce” rocketed to the top of Weibo’s trending search list after renowned Hong Kong entertainment mogul Chen Lan revealed that the pair had officially filed for divorce.
According to Chen Lan, Dou Xiao and Laurinda Ho—the daughter of Macau casino tycoon Stanley Ho—have submitted the paperwork and are awaiting court proceedings to finalize their separation. The relationship has reportedly deteriorated, with ongoing arguments and deep emotional strain while awaiting the legal decision.
A Marriage Built on Unequal Ground
The root of the breakup, Chen Lan claims, lies in class disparity. Laurinda’s mother, Ina Chan, along with the wealthy Ho family, allegedly looked down on Dou Xiao due to his modest background and past work as a hair washer. The disapproval was evident even during the wedding process—the Ho family refused to contribute financially, leaving Dou Xiao to fund the entire wedding himself.
Additionally, Laurinda’s mother barred her daughter from transferring assets to Dou Xiao, refused to allow joint ownership, and prevented him from accessing any part of the family business.
