Landmarks in major cities around the world to be lit up in pink in celebration of BLACKPINK’s comeback

YG Entertainment announces “Light Up The Pink”, a large-scale project to promote BLACKPINK’s comeback.

BLACKPINK is returning to the music scene after two years with an extraordinary scale. The MV production cost, album format, world tour cities, and more, are said to have the biggest scale that cannot be compared with anything that has been introduced so far. Thanks to this, the anticipation of fans around the world is at an all-time high.

BLACKPINK is scheduled to release their 2nd full album “BORN PINK” on September 16 and the pre-release single “Pink Venom” on August 19th.

With their first full album “The Album” released in 2020, BLACKPINK ranked No.2 on the US Billboard main album chart “Billboard 200”, the highest record for a K-pop girl group. They became the first girl group to top the Billboard “Artist 100” chart.

During the group’s hiatus, each member had solo activities and has expanded their fandom by a great amount, so BLACKPINK is expected to break new records with this upcoming comeback. YG Entertainment said, “Please look forward to an album filled with BLACKPINK’s fatal aura, unique identity and music.”

According to YG, “Light Up The Pink” is a campaign to light up landmarks representing each country with pink light to celebrate BLACKPINK’s comeback, starting with the N Seoul Tower in Seoul, and followed by the Tokyo Tower in Japan, the Brooklyn Bridge in New York, the Santa Monica Ferris Wheel in LA, and many more.

The highest production cost in YG history was invested in BLACKPINK’s MV. YG did not disclose the specific amount, but it is the highest amount compared to the production cost ever spent on MVs for YG artists such as BIGBANG and Sechs Kies. Starting with the Seoul concert in October, BLACKPINK’s world tour will be held in North America, Europe, Asia, and Oceania. The tour also boasts a very large scale with about 1.5 million attendees.

The album “BORN PINK” will be released in three forms: a box set version, a kit album, and an LP. In particular, the box set attracts attention as it is made of eco-friendly materials. The kit albums without CDs are also made of biodegradable plastic.

Prior to the release of the new album, BLACKPINK will be the first K-pop girl group to attend the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards in the US on August 29th (Korean time) and deliver electrifying performances.
