Barcelona’s teenage sensation Lamine Yamal has been named the Best Player of the 2024/25 season, outshining Ousmane Dembele and Vitinha in the highly respected “Los 100” rankings published by Marca.
The 18-year-old Spanish international topped the list with 3,310 points, leaving Dembele (3,100 points) and Vitinha (2,732 points) behind. This annual award is determined by a panel of 133 experts, including Marca journalists, football reporters from across Spain and globally, as well as respected former players and coaches.

The “Los 100” system requires each voter to select their top 10 players from a pre-nominated pool of 100. Players receive 30 points for a first-place vote, 25 points for second, 23 points for third, and so on.
Yamal’s score of 3,310 was enough to solidify his position as the undisputed best performer, underlining his immense influence and maturity despite his young age. This marks a significant leap from his 4th-place finish last season, when he trailed behind Vinicius Jr., Jude Bellingham, and Rodri.
He now joins the ranks of past winners such as Karim Benzema, Erling Haaland, and Vinicius Jr.

What makes Yamal’s achievement even more impressive is that he didn’t participate in the FIFA Club World Cup, where Dembele helped PSG to a historic treble (Ligue 1, French Cup, and Champions League) and reached the final in the U.S.
Although voting for the “Los 100” began before the Club World Cup, many ballots were submitted during or after the tournament. Still, Yamal maintained a strong 210-point lead over Dembele by the final count.
Yamal’s personal stats for the 2024/25 season are staggering. He recorded:
- 9 goals and 15 assists in La Liga
- 5 goals and 4 assists in the Champions League
- 2 goals and 6 assists in the Copa del Rey
- 2 goals in the Spanish Super Cup
His total contribution stood at 18 goals and 25 assists, a massive improvement from last season’s 7 goals and 9 assists.

On the international stage, Yamal also shined for Spain, scoring 3 goals and assisting once in the UEFA Nations League, helping his national team reach the final.
This season marked Yamal’s breakout year as a central figure in Barcelona’s resurgence. He played a key role in helping the Catalan club clinch the La Liga title, Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup. The team narrowly missed out on a historic quadruple, falling to Inter Milan in the Champions League semi-finals after two dramatic legs.
With this triumph, Yamal not only confirms his place among football’s elite but also sets the stage for what promises to be a legendary career.
