K-pop artists have come together to support victims of the tragic Hong Kong fire at Wing Fuk Court, which left 83 dead and 279 missing, according to Hong Kong Fire Services as of November 28. The fire, which occurred on November 26 in a high-rise residential complex in the Tai Po district, was fully extinguished by the evening of the 27th, but authorities raised the alarm to the highest level.

With the 2025 MAMA Awards scheduled at Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Stadium on November 28-29, K-pop stars and their agencies have actively contributed donations while keeping close attention on local relief efforts.

Major Contributions

SM Entertainment donated HKD 1 million (₩188 million) to the Hong Kong Red Cross, with RIIZE contributing HKD 250,000 (₩47 million).

aespa, featuring Chinese member Ningning, donated HKD 500,000 (~₩94 million).

JYP donated 2 million HKD (approximately 377 million KRW) to World Vision Hong Kong to support the recovery process. The funds will be used to provide temporary housing and psychological support for children and residents affected by the disaster.

Two of JYP’s artists also took part in the donation efforts. Stray Kids contributed 1 million HKD (approximately 188 million KRW), while KICKFLIP, a rising group under the label, donated 100,000 HKD (about 18.88 million KRW).

(G)I-DLE, with Chinese member Yuqi, contributed CNY 1 million (~₩200 million) to the China Po Sun Foundation for emergency aid and reconstruction.

GOT7’s Jackson, a Hong Kong native, donated HKD 1 million (~₩188 million) through his brand TeamWang to local hospitals, expressing gratitude to first responders and solidarity with victims.

YG Entertainment also donated HKD 1 million, with groups BabyMonster and Treasure participating in the MAMA Awards stage. YG announced the donation via its official Weibo account, expressing deep condolences for the lives lost and damages caused by the incident: “We are heartbroken by the human and property losses caused by the fire in Hong Kong. We extend our deepest condolences to all the victims.”

The company also acknowledged the efforts of local emergency responders, saying: “We sincerely thank and respect everyone who led the rescue operations during this challenging time. To support urgent relief and reconstruction efforts, we have decided to make this donation. We hope that even a small contribution can bring warmth and strength to the affected communities.”

Jackson posted on social media about local evacuation shelters and said: “I want to stand with everyone affected during these difficult times and sincerely thank the firefighters, rescue teams, medical staff, and all frontline workers for their dedication under extreme conditions.”

MAMA Awards Adjustments

Despite the tragedy, the 2025 MAMA Awards will proceed at Kai Tak Stadium with live broadcasts. The red carpet events were canceled, and organizers emphasized the ceremony would carry a “Support Hong Kong” message to share grief and raise awareness for victims’ assistance.
