In a sudden leadership change at Gold Medalist, CEO Ahn Sung-soo has resigned after just nine months in office, sources reported on November 28.

Ahn, who was present at Kim Soo-hyun’s press conference on March 31 at the Stanford Hotel in Seoul’s Mapo District, reportedly left the company a couple of months ago. His position has been filled by a new executive with a background at Hanwha.

Kim Soo-hyun agency CEO resignation

This change comes amid ongoing legal disputes between Kim Soo-hyun and the family of the late Kim Sae-ron, which have yet to be resolved.

Previously, another CEO, referred to as “A,” had resigned in December 2024, before the controversy surrounding Kim Soo-hyun became widely known. A had been involved in negotiations related to damages following Kim Sae-ron’s fatal car accident and reportedly worked to minimize tax complications for the family despite the financial complexities.

Currently, Kim Soo-hyun is facing allegations that he had been in a relationship with Kim Sae-ron for six years, starting when she was a minor. Initially denying the relationship, he later stated that it occurred after she reached adulthood. Controversy escalated when letters he had sent to the late actress during his military service were made public on YouTube. Kim Sae-ron was found dead on February 16 at her home in Seoul’s Seongdong District, coinciding with Kim Soo-hyun’s birthday.

The legal battle between Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Sae-ron’s family continues as the company undergoes leadership changes.
