In recent years, Korean dating shows have become a major source of buzz, and Single’s Inferno remains one of the most talked-about series. Set on a remote island, the show follows attractive singles as they compete, flirt, and form romantic connections, delivering a steady mix of tension, surprises, and viral moments each season. Season 5 continues that trend, drawing attention not only for its cast dynamics but also for unexpected revelations about the contestants’ pasts.

One of the most notable twists this season came with the introduction of so-called “game changers,” contestants added mid-season to shake up existing relationships. Among them is Lee Ha Eun, who is currently working as a dancer. Shortly after her appearance, viewers uncovered that she was once part of a pre-debut K-pop group known as HOWZ under HOW Entertainment.
HOWZ had previously revealed its full lineup and released various pre-debut contents, a common promotional strategy for rookie groups preparing for an official launch. However, like many pre-debut teams, the group’s activities eventually stalled. At the time, fans did not immediately assume the worst, as pauses often occur while agencies restructure plans or prepare for a delayed debut.
Lee Ha Eun’s participation in Single’s Inferno 5, however, has shifted public perception. Given the strict image management and contractual expectations typically placed on idols in active or upcoming groups, her appearance on a high-profile dating show strongly suggests that HOWZ is no longer moving forward. For many fans, this has effectively confirmed what was long suspected: the group has quietly disbanded without an official announcement.

While Lee Ha Eun is not the first former idol or trainee to transition into reality dating programs, her case once again highlights how uncertain and fragile pre-debut careers can be in the K-pop industry. For some, shows like Single’s Inferno offer a fresh start and a chance to redefine themselves beyond the idol system—sometimes at the cost of closing the door on long-held debut dreams.
