Korean Rookie Actress to Join Noah Centineo in Netflix’s “The Recruit” Season 2

The spy action thriller series revolves around a rookie lawyer who graduates from law school and gets entangled in the perilous world of spies after joining the CIA legal office.

The main character of “The Recruit” is played by Noah Centineo, dubbed ‘Netflix’s Prince’ after his role in Netflix’s popular “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” trilogy.

Given its popularity, there was considerable demand for a sequel. Eventually, it was announced that production for “The Recruit” Season 2 would begin this year. A particularly interesting fact about season 2 is the participation of Korean actors, attracting much attention in the Korean media.

Actors joining “The Recruit” Season 2 include familiar Korean stars, such as Yoo Tae-oh, who recently gained worldwide attention with “Past Lives”, and Lee Sang-hee from Netflix’s “Daily Dose of Sunshine”.

Although relatively unknown to the public, rising actress Shin Dohyun, who has been expanding her presence through various works, is drawing attention for playing a role that has a connection to Noah Centineo’s childhood. Her character in the drama is expected to be the highlight of Season 2 with a charming mask and a free-spirited personality.

Shin Dohyun made her debut as a model in 2017, starting with Park Won’s music video for “All of My Life”. She then actively starred in web dramas, short plays, and TV dramas.

In 2020, she made a strong impression on viewers by portraying the emergency medicine fellow Baek Joon-hee in the popular tvN drama “Hospital Playlist.” Her character, rushing in with news of a pediatric patient’s improved condition to Professor Ahn Jung-won, left a lasting impact.

In a scene where she assures a worried mother that it’s her first time dealing with a child patient, she amusingly mentions that parents often get flustered during their first child, earning recognition from Professor Ahn Jung-won (Yoo Yeon-seok).

Before pursuing acting, Shin Dohyun spent three years in the United States during high school, excelling in English. Her impressive aura in previous works, combined with her English proficiency, suggests that she will seamlessly collaborate with Noah Centineo in “The Recruit”. Anticipation is high for Shin Dohyun’s next steps, as this project might elevate her beyond Korea to become a global star.
