According to Koreaboo, a member of the popular Japanese idol group KissBee became the victim of a voyeuristic filming attempt when a man was caught secretly taking photos under her skirt.

The group’s management reported that staff at the venue discovered the man’s inappropriate behavior and immediately confronted him. The culprit eventually admitted to the act, leading to his permanent ban from all future KissBee events. The agency added that they would be strengthening on-site security to prevent similar incidents.

To protect the idol’s dignity, the name of the KissBee member involved has not been disclosed.

“One member of our group was secretly photographed under her skirt at a recent event,” KissBee member Ooe Rena wrote on her personal account. “Events should be meaningful and joyful moments shared with fans. It’s disappointing that something like this happened. We hope to create a safe space where everyone can feel comfortable and protected.”

Despite the man’s confession, KissBee’s representative revealed that he was not arrested because his actions did not qualify for criminal charges under current Japanese law. The agency expressed deep disappointment in the authorities’ response and emphasized that they would pursue legal action if similar harassment happens again.

This incident adds to a growing list of cases involving female Asian celebrities being secretly filmed:

Sooyoung (SNSD) — 2024

In early 2024, SNSD’s Sooyoung was illegally photographed backstage during her musical Wife. A male audience member ignored the performance, repeatedly used his phone, and was later caught taking photos of Sooyoung changing clothes during the intermission.

Winter (aespa) — 2021

In April 2021, aespa’s Winter was secretly filmed during a behind-the-scenes advertisement shoot. Fans noticed a male staff member walking behind her with his phone camera lowered, intentionally aiming under her skirt. The clip went viral, sparking outrage across online communities.

Nancy (MOMOLAND) — 2019

In 2019, MOMOLAND’s Nancy became the victim of a severe privacy breach when a hidden-camera photo taken inside a changing room at the Asia Artist Awards was leaked and sold online. The image circulated widely, accompanied by objectifying comments on a forum with over 500 members.

These repeated cases highlight ongoing safety issues faced by female idols in the entertainment industry. Fans and netizens continue to demand stricter legal measures and better protection to prevent such violations.
