On September 29, S2 Entertainment released a statement: “We have confirmed that illegal videos are being leaked and distributed online. While we have already addressed this matter, baseless speculations about our artist continue to spread, so we are making our position clear once again.”
The agency emphasized, “We are fully aware that unchecked rumors and reckless assumptions are severely damaging our artist’s honor and character, and this is no longer tolerable. Together with our legal representatives, we are collecting and analyzing evidence, and preparing legal action against the spread of false information, malicious posts, and any acts infringing on personal rights.”
They further stated, “All collected evidence will be used in legal proceedings, and we will pursue the matter without settlement or leniency. Please note that not only the illegal distribution of videos through unlawful channels but also secondary harm and fabricated content will be subject to legal punishment.”
Previously, on the same day, S2 Entertainment released an official statement, saying, “This involves the artist’s private life, so there is nothing we can confirm.”
Jellyfish Entertainment – VERIVERY‘s agency – also released an official statement confirming that “groundless rumors targeting VERIVERY member Kangmin have been indiscriminately spread through portal sites, online articles, communities, and social media platforms.” The agency revealed that since issuing a notice back in August, they have been consistently collecting evidence for legal action.
The controversy began on September 28, when a video circulated on Chinese social media platform Weibo. The footage, filmed in what appeared to be a private bar room, showed a man playing with a woman’s hair as she lay on the sofa and later back-hugging her as she prepared to leave. The woman is also shown smoking an e-cigarette.
Some netizens speculated that the man in the video was VERIVERY’s Kangmin and that the woman was Julie of KISS OF LIFE. However, while Julie’s side firmly maintained their stance of not confirming private matters. Later, additional photos emerged suggesting that the man in question was not Kangmin, further fueling debate.
Julie is preparing for KISS OF LIFE’s official Japanese debut scheduled for the second half of this year.
