King Charles III Compared BTS To The UK’s Pop Culture Icon The Beatles

King Charles III recently held a banquet at Buckingham Palace to welcome South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol. This is also an event to strengthen the two countries’ cultural relationship. 170 guests were invited to this special ceremony, including BLACKPINK

Apart from BLACKPINK, King Charles III also mentioned BTS as another K-pop group that impressed him.

In particular, King Charles III compared BTS to the UK’s legendary band The Beatles. He said, “Korea has matched Danny Boyle with Bong Joon Ho, James Bond with Squid Game, and the Beatles’s Let It Be with BTS’s Dynamite.”

President Yoon Suk-yeol also mentioned the representative symbols of the two countries in music, movies and literature. This time, he also mentioned BTS and BLACKPINK while acknowledging the cultural values of both countries. He said, “When I was a student, me and my friends were always singing along to The Beatles, Queen and Elton John. Nowadays, Korean people really like ‘Harry Potter’. Similarly, Korean’s groups BTS and BLACKPINK are also loved by British people”. 

At the banquet, the Korean President said, “The song ‘My Universe’ performed by BTS and Coldplay also gain huge love from young people around the world.”
