Kim Woo Bin revealed the secret behind his smoking scenes in “Black Knight”

Actor Kim Woo Bin revealed the behind-the-scenes story of his smoking scenes in “Black Knight”.

Kim Woo Bin had an interview with Wikitree at a cafe in Sogyeok-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul on May 17th. He shared various stories about Netflix’s “Black Knight”.

“Black Knight” depicts a dystopian future where extensive air pollution has become a huge problem after a comet destroyed most of the world and forced the people who are still alive to depend on elite delivery drivers for survival. Kim Woo Bin played the role of 5-8, a legendary Knight.

There were also scenes that caused fans to worry. This is because there were scenes in which he smoked after returning from a battle with nasopharyngeal cancer. In this regard, Kim Woo Bin said, “When the director first invited me to appear in the series, he said he’d remove all smoking settings. But no matter which way I look at it, 5-8’s image goes well with cigarettes. So I told the director, ‘If we film these scenes with CG, I’ll try acting.’ I heard that erasing cigarette smoke is difficult, but making it is easy.”

As for the filming process, he confessed, “I filmed with a short cigarette model prop. Since my movement is like this, when the cigarette smoke comes to my eyes, it’ll sting. At this point, the cigarette ash will fall, so I dust off my clothes. I acted while estimating everything like this. Afterwards, I explained it to the director. He watched the monitor and understood everything. The production team made everything in detail, so people around me were very worried.”

“Black Knight” starring Kim Woo Bin is currently available on Netflix.
