Kim Soo Hyun sings OST for the first time in 10 years “Repays the love from ‘Queen of Tears’ viewers”

Actor Kim Soo Hyun will be stepping into the role of a drama OST singer

According to Newsen on April 18th, the production team of tvN’s Saturday-Sunday drama “Queen of Tears” stated, “Kim Soo Hyun recently participated in recording the OST for ‘Queen of Tears’.

They added, “To repay the love from the viewers, the production team and Kim Soo Hyun worked hard to prepare. Please check through the broadcast to see which songs will appear in which scenes.”

Kim Soo Hyun’s direct participation in singing an OST is the first time in 10 years since the release of the OST “If I..” of SBS’s drama “My Love from the Star” on February 29th, 2014, followed by “Promise” released on March 13th of the same year.

Previously, Kim Soo Hyun received recognition for his singing abilities through OSTs like “Dreaming” for KBS 2TV’s drama “Dream High” and “Only you, my love” for MBC’s drama “Moon Embracing the Sun”. Therefore, there is anticipation for the new voice and emotion that Kim Soo Hyun will bring through the OST of “Queen of Tears”.

Meanwhile, “Queen of Tears” depicts the dizzying crisis and miraculous rekindling of love between Hong Hae In (Kim Ji Won), a third-generation chaebol heiress of Queens Group, and Baek Hyun Woo (Kim Soo Hyun), the son of farmers from Yongdu-ri, and their three years of marriage.

Thanks to the flawless performances of Kim Soo Hyun, Kim Ji Won and other actors, episode 12 of “Queen of Tears”, which aired on April 14th, recorded a nationwide rating of 20.7% according to Nielsen Korea. This is about four times higher than episode 1’s rating and also the highest rating for the drama itself.

As “Queen of Tears” approaches its conclusion with only four episodes left out of 16, viewers are paying attention to whether it can achieve the highest rating in tvN’s history. At this point, the highest-rated tvN drama is “Crash Landing on You” starring Son Ye Jin and Hyun Bin, which aired from December 2019 to February 2020. The final episode of “Crash Landing on You” recorded a rating of 21.7%, securing the title of the highest-rated tvN drama ever.
