On December 1, attorney Go Sang Rok, representing actor Kim Soo Hyun, released a detailed statement via his YouTube channel. He criticized Bu Ji Seok, the lawyer representing Kim Sae Ron’s family, for focusing on personal attacks rather than addressing the actual legal matters. “It seems Attorney Bu has decided to invest all efforts into attacking the messenger, straying far from the essence of the case,” he said.
Go urged Kim Sae Ron’s team to stop the media spin and instead respond to five key questions he had consistently raised, which go to the heart of the ongoing dispute. These include whether the family ever claimed that Kim Sae Ron died due to distress caused by Kim Soo Hyun, and whether they confirmed or denied specific claims made by controversial YouTube channel Garo Sero Institute, including allegations of a past underage relationship.
Go also addressed the canceled broadcast of SBS’s Curious Stories Y. He clarified that he had not attempted to block the episode from airing. “I had no power to stop the show, nor did I attempt to,” he explained. “I was simply notified by the network that the program would be postponed. In fact, I had told them that as long as a proper rebuttal was included, I would feel reassured.”
He further stated that his warning was rooted in concern that the deceased’s side and Garo Sero Institute might once again circulate irrelevant or misleading materials. His concern was validated days later when Garo Sero Institute Season 2 was launched.
Go disclosed part of his phone call with a show producer to support his claims. He criticized the opposing legal team for releasing more statements that diverted attention from the main issues without offering clear answers. “False claims are being spread, portraying me as someone who pressured media outlets not on behalf of my client, but to protect my own career. This is completely untrue,” he said.
The back-and-forth between both parties has drawn significant public attention as legal and emotional tensions rise. With each side presenting conflicting narratives, public demand is growing for transparency and factual clarification from all involved.
