Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Ji-won’s marriage of the century, is reality the opposite? (Queen of Tears)

Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Ji-won are hinting at an uneasy married life

tvN’s new Saturday-Sunday drama “Queen of Tears” (written by Park Ji-eun, directed by Jang Young-woo, Kim Hee-won, produced by Studio Dragon, Culture Depot, Showrunners) released “tear” and “distance” posters hinting at the unpredictable married life of the “couple of the century” Baek Hyun-woo (played by Kim Soo-hyun) and Hong Hae-in (played by Kim Ji-won), raising curiosity about their relationship.

Queen of Tears

“Queen of Tears” follows the dizzying crisis and miraculous rebirth of love between Hong Hae-in, the third-generation Queens Group chaebol and department store queen, and Baek Hyun-woo, the son of Yongdu-ri and supermarket prince. It will premiere on March 9th at 9:10 PM.

In the “tear” poster, Baek Hyun-woo and Hong Hae-in, who are tightly embracing each other, draw attention with their contrasting expressions. While Baek Hyun-woo is smiling affectionately, Hong Hae-in’s face remains cold. Especially, the extravagant jewel attached to Hong Hae-in’s cheek, reminiscent of tears, raises curiosity about what may have happened to her, just like the title “Queen of Tears” suggests.

Furthermore, the copy on the poster “Why don’t we love after getting married for love?” suggests that there will be changes in the relationship between the couple after marriage. People are paying attention to the circumstances of the couple as to why Hong Hae-in, who is with her beloved husband Baek Hyun-woo, sheds tears.

The mood difference between Baek Hyun-woo and Hong Hae-in in the “distance” poster is also interesting. After the marriage, which caused a bit of a buzz, Hong Hae-in still maintains a haughty and relaxed attitude, while Baek Hyun-woo sits frozen with a tense expression on the edge of the sofa. The distance between the two sitting on opposite ends of the sofa is palpable.

Also, the phrase “I thought… it was the marriage of the century” suggests changes in the couple’s life after marriage. As the marriage to the heir of a conglomerate, which was once just a fantasy, has become a reality for Baek Hyun-woo, their married life is expected to change gradually from now on.

Like this, “Queen of Tears” shows a stark contrast between Baek Hyun-woo and Hong Hae-in’s changed status after marriage through “tear” and “distance” posters. Although they vowed eternal love and got married, as time passes, their hearts seem to drift apart like the ends of the sofa, and there is a growing interest in whether their relationship can become closer again.
