On January 16, Kim So You appeared on the YouTube channel Hi Semi, hosted by Park Semi, where the two discussed various personal stories. During the conversation, Kim disclosed an incident she described as deeply shameful. “I was randomly assaulted by someone I didn’t know,” she said.
Park immediately responded, “That’s not shameful, that’s enraging,” to which Kim replied, “It’s because I was beaten so badly.”
Kim explained, “I had just finished practice and was walking toward the subway station. It was raining, so I had my umbrella open. Then someone came up behind me, put me in a headlock, and started punching me in the face—over and over. I kept getting hit. At first, I thought it was a prank, but it was way too intense. I couldn’t even lift my head.”
She went on to describe the aftermath: “My hands were shaking as I called 112. But what’s heartbreaking is that the attacker was a psychiatric patient who had escaped from the hospital. His elderly mother was supposed to be caring for him, but he was so big that she couldn’t control him anymore.”
When Park Semi asked whether she received any compensation, Kim admitted, “There wasn’t really a system in place for that kind of support.” Park sympathized, “At least the situation didn’t escalate further. I’m so glad you weren’t seriously injured. It’s infuriating.”

Park also shared her own disturbing encounter: “A large man was walking toward me. Suddenly, something flashed in his eyes—he struck me in the face and kept walking. I fell backward and started crying on the ground. People looked out their windows to ask if I was okay, but no one helped. I think that’s why my eyes are slightly off now.”
The conversation shed light on the terrifying reality of random attacks and the lack of support systems for victims, leaving viewers both shocked and empathetic.
