With all the nominees for the 43rd Blue Dragon Film Awards being revealed, attention is focused on who will receive the once-in-a-lifetime rookie award.
On Nov 22nd, the Blue Dragon Film Awards Secretariat announced all candidates for the 43rd Blue Dragon Film Awards.
△”Broker” △”Kingmaker” △”Hansan: Rising Dragon” △”Hunt” △”Decision to Leave” were nominated for this year’s Best Film.
For the Best Director award, △Broker’s Hirokazu Kore-eda △Hansan: Rising Dragon’s Kim Han Min △Decision to Leave’s Park Chan Wook △Kingmaker’s Byun Sung Hyun △Emergency Declaration’s Han Jae Rim were named as nominees.
△The Girl on a Bulldozer’s Park Yi Woong △The Roundup’s Lee Sang Yong △Hunt’s Lee Jung Jae △Anchor’s Jung Ji Yeon △Perhaps Love’s Jo Eun Ji will compete for the Best New Director award.
In particular, Hunt’s director Lee Jung Jae, who turned from an actor to a director, was named in the Best New Director category, drawing attention. He won “Best New Actor” at the 16th Blue Dragon Film Awards for the movie “The Young Man” in 1995.

The Best Supporting Actress award’s nominees include △Emergency Declaration’s Kim So Jin △The Witch: Part 2. The Other One’s Seo Eun Soo △Perhaps Love’s Oh Na Ra △Decision to Leave’s Lee Jung Hyun △Hunt’s Jeon Hye Jin.
The Best New Actor award’s nominees are △In Our Prime’s Kim Dong Hwi △Perhaps Love’s Mu Jin Sung △Project Wolf Hunting’s Seo In Guk △Life Is Beautiful’s Ong Seong Wu △Hansan: Rising Dragon’s Lee Seo Jun.
The Best New Actress award’s nominees are △Hunt’s Go Yoon Jung △Decision to Leave’s Kim Shin Young △The Girl on a Bulldozer’s Kim Hye Yoon △Broker’s Lee Ji Eun (IU) △The Witch: Part 2. The Other One’s Shin Si Ah.
Among them, Kim Shin Young and IU, whose main jobs are not actors, are drawing attention.
Previously, director Park Chan Wook talked about the reason for casting Kim Shin Young in “Decision to Leave”, “I’ve been her fan since she appeared on ‘People Looking for a Laugh’. I thought that she’s an excellent genius, and I felt that the film industry shouldn’t leave such a person unattended.”
IU, who appeared in “Broker”, was recognized for her acting skills by being mentioned as a candidate for the Best Actress award at the 75th Cannes Film Festival among foreign media.
Meanwhile, the 43rd Blue Dragon Film Awards will be held at 8:30 PM on Nov 25th at KBS Hall in Yeouido and will be broadcast live through KBS.
