On January 13, a production press event for the Netflix series Can This Love Be Translated? was held at The Josun Palace in Gangnam, Seoul. Lead actors Kim Seon‑ho and Go Youn‑jung, along with other cast and crew, attended the event and spoke about the series.

Director Yoo Young‑eun explained why Kim Seon‑ho and Go Youn‑jung were cast, saying, “They were irreplaceable for these roles. Kim Seon‑ho delivers subtle and detailed emotional acting perfectly whether in comedy or romance while also expressing the character’s sharp edges.” About Go Youn‑jung, the director said, “Cha Mu‑hee may speak unfiltered, but her emotions are transparent and lovable. Go Youn‑jung’s purity, charm, and spirited energy naturally fit the character.”
Kim Seon‑ho described his character Joo Ho‑jin as “a multilingual interpreter fluent in six languages Italian, English, Japanese, Chinese, French, and Korean who conveys foreign languages better than anyone, yet struggles with expressing his own emotions.”

During the event, the actors revealed how filming across multiple countries including Korea, Japan, Canada, and Italy brought them closer. Kim Seon‑ho shared, “While filming overseas, we relied on each other and shared meals, so of course we became close. It felt like being with family.”
He also recounted a memorable moment from Japan: “During an early scene on a train, I accidentally closed the door and got off, while Youn‑jung stayed onboard. Afterward, she came up to me asking, ‘What are you doing?’ and that’s how we grew closer.”

Go Youn‑jung responded, “I have nothing but fun memories from filming. I thought, ‘If I’m at Seon‑ho’s level someday, I’d want to be acting like that.’” The two also shared that one of their most unforgettable moments was seeing the aurora in Canada something even local staff called “miraculous.”
Can This Love Be Translated? is a romantic comedy about Joo Ho‑jin (Kim Seon‑ho), a multilingual interpreter who becomes the interpreter for global top star Cha Mu‑hee (Go Youn‑jung). The series premieres on January 16 on Netflix.
