The Seoul Metropolitan Police have acknowledged delays in investigating multiple cases related to Kim Se Ui, head of the controversial YouTube channel Garo Sero Research Institute, and have announced the formation of a dedicated task force to speed up the process.

During a regular press briefing on November 3, Seoul Police Chief Park Jeong Bo stated, “There were delays because the cases involving Kim Se Ui were assigned to various departments, which hindered investigation progress. We have now assigned the cases to a concentrated investigation team to ensure faster and more effective handling. Everything will proceed fairly, so there’s no need for concern.”

Of the 21 cases related to Kim Se Ui, 16 have been transferred to a newly established concentrated investigation team within Gangnam Police Station’s Investigation Division 3. This team is tasked with centralizing management of the cases, many of which involve overlapping allegations and various complainants. Priority is being given to cases that have seen the least progress.

Five other cases concerning actor Kim Soo Hyun remain under the oversight of the original investigation team at Gangnam Police Station. “Those cases are already in advanced stages,” Chief Park explained. “We’re awaiting analysis results from the National Forensic Service, and the existing team will continue managing them without change.”

The police’s announcement comes in response to growing backlash over their inaction. On October 30, YouTuber Eun Hyun Jang testified during a National Assembly audit session, claiming, “There are 16 to 20 unresolved cases involving Kim Se Ui at Gangnam Police Station, but the investigations are at a complete standstill.”

This latest move aims to quell public criticism and regain trust by ensuring transparency and efficiency in addressing the controversies surrounding Kim Se Ui.
