Kim Se-jeong heralded office chemistry this time.
SBS’ new Friday-Saturday drama “Today’s Webtoon” (written by Cho Ye-rang, Lee Jae-eun/directed by Jo Soo-won, Kim Young-hwan) released still cuts of actors Kim Se-jeong, Choi Daniel and Nam Yoon-su on July 1st.
“Today’s Webtoon” depicts the dynamic office life of the webtoon industry and the growth of a freshman webtoon editor who used to be a judo athlete. On Ma-eum (Kim Se-jeong) is a new employee in the Neon webtoon editorial department. Although she had to give up her dream of becoming a judo gold medalist, she challenges her second dream with the power of positivity. She meets the two men who will have the greatest influence on her: deputy editor Seok Ji-hyung (Choi Daniel) and Goo Jun-yeong (Nam Yoon-su), who joined the company at the same time as On Ma-eum.
For On Ma-eum, who experiences life at work for the first time, deputy editor Seok Ji-hyung is a reliable mentor. Although he can be brutally honest, he is also a supportive editor who takes good care of his colleagues. Ma-eum is a bit different junior to Ji-hyung. It is because he saw his youthful days in Ma-eum, who jumps here and there with passion and persistence no matter what job she takes on. So, Ji-hyung feels a different sense of pride compared to when planning webtoons by helping her grow into a true editor both physically and mentally.
On the other hand, it is not yet clear whether the combination between On Ma-eum and Goo Jun-yeong will be negative or positive. Unlike Ma-eum, who has a special specification called “former athlete“, Jun-yeong is a typical “mom’s friend’s son” who has only walked on the elite flower path. Ma-eum is a passionate freshman who is sincere about webtoons, but Jun-yeong is displeased with both the webtoon editorial department and On Ma-eum. He gradually grows to be more like On Ma-eum, who sincerely puts her heart and soul into everything, while looking back on himself.
The production team said, “One of the things that many office workers consider important is the relationship between colleagues or seniors – juniors. On Ma-eum, who first stepped into a company, becomes a true office worker by joining forces or conflicting with other people. In that process, her relationship with Seok Ji-hyung and Goo Jun-yeong is drawn realistically. There will be fun of empathy for real office workers to watch while nodding their heads together.“
“Today’s Webtoon” will premiere on July 29th following “Why Her“.
