Actress Kim Sae Ron, who caused controversy over drunk driving, spoke out about the rumors that have surrounded her.
Kim Sae Ron directly expressed her position on the rumors surrounding her through an interview with Money Today on April 6th.
Kim Sae Ron is currently known to be the youngest daughter in her family. However, it has been reported that she denied having appealed for help regarding her family’s financial situation.
According to entertainment reporter and YouTuber Lee Jinho, Kim Sae Ron’s mother did not work and her father ran a trading business but was hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. Thus, Kim Sae Ron was reportedly responsible for the majority of her family’s income.
However, after her DUI conviction, Kim Sae Ron was criticized for posting on social media about drinking with BJs and idol group members while complaining about her financial struggles, as well as playing poker at a pub.
According to Money Today, the day after the first verdict, she worked part-time at a café. She had worked at the café in Gangnam-gu, Seoul for just over a year.
Earlier in March, she posted a picture on her Instagram that suggested she was working at a franchise café. However, the company firmly denied ever having employed Kim Sae Ron after the photo drew attention. Kim Sae Ron later explained that she was filling in for someone else at the time.
Kim Sae Ron admitted that she had worked at not only the café, but also a bar in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, which was said to be run by an acquaintance of hers. According to reports, she worked skillfully and was friendly to customers.
Regarding her plans to appeal, Kim Sae Ron replied with a firm “I have no intention to do so.” She stated that she believes she should take responsibility for her own mistakes and has no plans to appeal.
After the trial, Kim Sae Ron said, “I have nothing to say other than to apologize. I did not appeal for help regarding my financial difficulties. It is true that I was working part-time and that I had to pay a lot of fines. Although I did not set the standard for what constitutes financial difficulties, I am indeed in a difficult situation.”
Last May, Kim Sae Ron was caught drunk driving with a blood alcohol level of over 0.22% in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. At the time, she collided with guardrails, trees, and transformers before being caught by the police. The accident caused a transformer to malfunction, resulting in power being cut off to 57 nearby stores for three hours.
