The family of the late actress Kim Sae Ron is facing growing skepticism over their claims about her alleged relationship with actor Kim Soo Hyun when she was a minor. After the family released text messages suggesting Kim Sae Ron was romantically involved with a well-known actor, Kim Soo Hyun’s side strongly denied the accusations, calling them “factually incorrect.”
On October 13, Money Today exclusively obtained Kim Soo Hyun’s June 2016 filming schedule, showing that the actor was fully occupied shooting the movie Real during the exact period mentioned by Kim Sae Ron’s family. According to the report, Kim filmed for over 18 days that month, often arriving early on set and leaving only after wrapping late at night. Given this schedule, the outlet questioned the plausibility of Kim Soo Hyun arranging any personal meetings or dates at that time.
Earlier, the family’s legal representative had revealed a set of text messages allegedly exchanged between Kim Sae Ron and an unnamed male actor in 2016, when she was still underage. The messages included intimate lines such as, “Kiss me later,” and “When can I fall asleep holding you?” The family asserted that the man in question was Kim Soo Hyun.
However, Kim Soo Hyun’s side refuted the claim, emphasizing that there was no verifiable evidence identifying him as the sender. “There is nothing in the conversation that confirms Kim Soo Hyun’s involvement,” they stated.
The controversy escalated further after the YouTube channel Garosero Research Institute echoed the family’s claim, alleging that Kim Soo Hyun had been in a relationship with Kim Sae Ron from late 2015 when she was still a minor until July 2021. In response, Kim Soo Hyun’s agency clarified that their relationship only lasted from the summer of 2019 to the fall of 2020, firmly denying any earlier connection.
As public debate continues, the incident has become one of the most contentious and emotionally charged disputes surrounding the late actress’s name, raising questions about the authenticity of the evidence and the motivations behind its release.
