Kim Sae Ron Fined 20 Million Won for Drunk Driving Accident, “I’m Reflecting on My Actions”

Kim Sae Ron has been fined 20 million won for causing an accident while driving under the influence of alcohol. 

On March 8, Kim Sae Ron appeared in court for her first trial held by the Seoul Central District Court, ten months after the incident. 

Kim Sae Ron appeared wearing a gray cardigan, her hair tied back, and a mask on her face. She looked tired and showed dark circles down to her cheekbones.

During the trial, Kim Sae Ron, who was indicted on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act, apologized, stating that she was “reflecting on her actions and would never let such an incident happen again.” 

The prosecution highlighted Kim Sae Ron’s blood alcohol level, which was found to be over 0.22%, as a significant factor in the accident.

The court took into account that this was Kim Sae Ron’s first offense and that she confessed to the indictment and cooperated with the authorities to recover the damage. However, she was still found guilty and received a fine of 20 million won.

Earlier on May 18 last year, Kim Sae Ron caused an accident in which she crashed into guardrails, street trees, and transformers while driving under the influence of alcohol near Hakdong Intersection in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.

The accident caused damage to surrounding businesses, resulting in the loss of power supply to 57 locations. At the time of the accident, Kim Sae Ron refused to undergo an alcohol test, but a blood collection test later revealed that her blood alcohol concentration was significantly higher than the license cancellation level.
