Kim Min-hee’s Love Affair Scandal Re-examined Following Han So-hee’s Dating Controversy

While the recent suspicion of a transit love between Ryu Jun-yeol, Hyeri and Han So-hee is still gaining attention, some netizens brought up the love affair of director Hong Sang-soo and actress Kim Min-hee. 

Hong Sang-soo and Kim Min-hee developed feelings for each other after working together in the movie “Right Now, Wrong Then” in 2015. Later in March 2017, the two officially publicized their romantic relationship at the press conference for the movie “On The Beach At Night Alone”. This issue shocked the whole nation.

In fact, the two’s age gap of 22 years is not the problem. What made the public criticize the couple harshly was that the director was still married when he revealed his romance with Kim Min-hee. Hong Sang-soo’s wife had been with him for 30 years and their daughter was studying in university. 

According to the media, director Hong immediately filed for divorce from his wife as soon as he admitted to the affair with Kim Min-hee. When his wife didn’t agree to divorce, he cut contact with his family and stopped providing support for his daughter’s study in the US. Hong Sang-soo’s wife got angry and she visited Kim Min-hee’s house to talk directly with the actress. With a challenging attitude, Kim Min-hee blamed Hong Sang-soo’s wife for not being able to keep her husband.

Hong Sang-soo and Kim Min-hee are still dating and their romance is still the most shocking love affair in the Korean entertainment industry. Despite various explanations from the director, the public is still boycotting this controversial couple.

Due to this affair scandal, Kim Min-hee was blacklisted by many brands and movie producers. From 2017 until now, the actress has only been starring in movies by her lover. Although Kim Min-hee gained recognition at overseas award ceremonies, she still has no chance to appear on TV in Korea.
