On August 3rd, overseas distributor Fine Cut announced that director Hong Sang-soo’s new film “Walk Up” was invited to the San Sebastian Film Festival, which will open on September 16th. At this film festival, “Walk Up” will compete with about 20 works for the Golden Shell award, the highest prize in the competition category.
It was also invited to the special presentation section of the Toronto Film Festival, which will open on September 8th. Director Park Chan-wook’s “Decision to Leave” and director Hirokazu Kore-eda’s “Broker” were also included in this category.
Kim Min-hee, director Hong Sang-soo’s lover, did not appear in this film. Kim Min-hee has been starring in director Hong’s films ever since she admitted to dating him. The two admitted to having an affair at the press preview of the movie “On the Beach at Night Alone” held in March 2017, saying, “We are in love.” Director Hong filed a divorce suit against his wife in 2019, but it was dismissed by the court.
