The singer and long-time bachelor shocked fans and even his close circle of fitness enthusiast friends when he recently confirmed he’s tying the knot. On September 4, during the YouTube video “Beast Idol Vocal Training…(Feat. Jun. K, Choi Han-jin)” on his channel Gym Jong-kook, the singer opened up about his upcoming wedding and the unexpected—but mostly amused—reactions around him.
Fellow trainer Choi Han-jin recalled his initial disbelief: “At first, I said, ‘What are you talking about? That’s fake news!’ Even among the bodybuilders, the news spread like wildfire. Members at the gym kept asking if it was true.”
Adding a touch of sentiment, 2PM’s Jun. K handed Kim a bouquet with a congratulatory card that read: “Hyung, congrats on starting the second act of your life.” Jun. K also gifted a handmade teddy bear. He commented, “I was just in Japan a few days ago, then saw the news and it was everywhere.”
Kim responded humbly, saying he had wanted to keep the matter quiet. His private wedding is set for September 5 in Seoul, and his fiancée is reportedly not a celebrity.
He first revealed the news through a handwritten letter posted on his official fan café on August 18. Later, on an episode of SBS’s “Running Man”, Kim emphasized that his bride-to-be is someone “no one would know” and made it clear that she’s not part of the entertainment industry. He also noted that she would not appear on “My Little Old Boy”.
