On the afternoon of June 16, Kim Jaejoong spoke with Sports Chosun in an interview, where he shared behind-the-scenes stories about the Korea-Japan co-produced occult horror film The Shrine (directed by Kazuyoshi Kumakiri).
The Shrine follows the story of a shaman investigating the disappearance of three university students who vanish after visiting an abandoned shrine in Kobe, Japan, while confronting strange evil spirits along the way. In the film, Kim Jaejoong plays Myung Jin, a male shaman determined to uncover the identity of the evil spirit.

Kim Jaejoong also offered an honest opinion about the possibility of a TVXQ reunion. He said, “A reunion is too sensitive of a matter for me to talk about. The opinions of the other members are important too, and they all live while considering not only their own feelings but also the circumstances around them. It’s an extremely sensitive issue it’s not something that can happen just because someone wants it to, and feelings alone wouldn’t be enough.”
He continued, “When I was younger, I also wanted to see my favorite idol seniors reunite as a complete group. But over time, I came to understand that everyone has their own circumstances, and it’s not easy. Since I come from a big family, I feel this deeply even during holidays, parents may have children who can visit and others who cannot. Everyone builds new families and lives in changing environments, which makes things difficult. I think it’s similar to that.”

The Shrine stars Kim Jaejoong alongside Gong Sung Ha, Ko Hoon Jung, and Kino Hana. The film is directed by Kazuyoshi Kumakiri, known for works such as Mukoku, Bungo: Stories of Desire, and 658km, Yoko no Tabi, and is set to premiere on June 17.
