On the morning of September 30th, Kim Go-eun was interviewed at a café in Bukchon-ro, Jongno-gu, Seoul, discussing her latest film “Love in the Big City” (directed by Lee Eon-hee).
When asked about her character Jae-hee’s love style, Kim Go-eun commented “I feel a bit sorry for our Jae-hee. She definitely needs to improve her judgment when it comes to men. In the end, it worked out, but she seems like the type who gets fixated on one thing and just goes for it“, which brought laughter.
She continued, “Watching Jae-hee, I thought she was someone with very low self-esteem. To hide that, she presents herself in a more polished way on the outside. I believe her biggest void was feeling unloved, and that’s why relationships became a priority for her in her 20s. She didn’t focus on what kind of person the guy was but rather on how much they liked her and where she ranked in their priorities. I think that was her biggest growing pain in her 20s. When Heung-soo says ‘You’re annoying, you’re so uncool’ and ‘You’re disappearing, look at yourself more’, that’s when she starts to realize these things.”
When asked about her personal love style, Kim Go-eun responded, “I take my time and tend to observe for a while. Even in my 20s, unlike Jae-hee, it was most important to me that I stayed true to myself. I think a relationship can only progress when you feel comfortable enough to joke around and be your authentic self.“
When asked if she prefers a natural way of meeting people, Kim Go-eun smilingly revealed, “Sadly, I’ve never been on a blind date or group date. I’ve always wanted to try, but I guess it’s too late now.”
“Love in the Big City” tells the story of Jae-hee (played by Kim Go-eun), a free spirit who doesn’t care about what others think, and Heung-soo (played by Noh Sang-hyun), who is used to distancing himself from the world.
In the film, Kim Go-eun plays Jae-hee, a character who draws everyone’s attention with her carefree personality.
The movie is set to be released on October 1st.
