KBS’ Ban, Health Problems: (G)I-DLE Is Having One Of The Most Difficult Comebacks In Their Career

Its agency Cube Entertainment announced on January 26th, “Minnie and Yuqi visited the hospital due to sudden poor conditions and fever, and are receiving sufficient rest and treatment after suspending all planned schedules according to the medical staff’s findings.” Since then, the agency has suspended its activities by canceling a press conference for its second full-length album “2,” which was originally scheduled on the 29th due to the members’ poor condition.

(G)I-DLE‘s new album “2” has surpassed 1.8 million copies in pre-order, heralding a second consecutive million-seller album. This is the second highest pre-order volume achieved among all K-pop girl groups.

However, (G)I-DLE has been embroiled in controversy over the sensational lyrics of its pre-release song “Wife.” For this reason, (G)I-DLE was severely criticized by the public, and KBS announced that the lyrics were too sexual and banned the song from its broadcasting.

(G)I-DLE considered applying for partial revision and retrial of the lyrics of “Wife” in order to be able to perform it on TV, but later decided to focus on the title song activities instead.

With the unfavorable situation ahead of the comeback, attention is being paid to how (G)I-DLE’s comeback activities will proceed.
