The new project, PRELUDE: The Final Piece, features former Dream Academy contestants Emily, Samara, and Lexie, with speculation that the final member will be chosen through a survival show.
On August 29 (KST), HYBE unveiled an introductory film showcasing the members and hinting at what the public can expect. However, the timing and lineup immediately sparked controversy. Many fans argued that if Dream Academy participants who failed to join KATSEYE are debuting anyway, the entire competition felt meaningless.

The situation escalated further when KATSEYE’s official account retweeted the promotional video. Fans were quick to criticize the move, claiming that HYBE—or the group’s management—likely shared the post without consulting KATSEYE members. Some also expressed frustration over the inclusion of Samara, who has previously faced racism allegations.

Supporters of KATSEYE voiced disappointment that HYBE seemed to be leveraging KATSEYE’s name to boost interest in another project, especially when KATSEYE themselves are still in the early stages of building their career. Many felt it was unfair to the members, who had already endured intense scrutiny and challenges to earn fan support.
For now, fans continue to demand clarity from HYBE while urging the company to reconsider how it promotes both KATSEYE and PRELUDE: The Final Piece.
