Kang Tae-oh officially enlisted in the military on Sep 20th, “I will come back with a more mature appearance”

Actor Kang Tae-oh (29 years old) officially joins the army today (September 20th), leaving his fans upset.

Kang Tae-oh, who received huge love for his performance in ENA’s drama “Extraordinary Attorney Woo”, entered the 37th Infantry Division recruit training center in Jeungpyeong-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do at around 1 p.m on September 20th. Arriving at the training center with warm cheers from fans, Kang Tae-oh smiled brightly and greeted, “It feels so weird. I can even see some familiar griptoks on fans’ cell phones”.

He said, “Thank you for coming all the way here. It’s an honor to be able to enlist with so much love, attention, and blessings from everyone. I will fulfill my military duty and return with a more mature appearance. Thank you”, expressing his feelings about enlisting.

When asked if there was any food that came to his mind, the actor said, “I ate braised pollack before coming here”, adding “What comes to my mind right now is cold buckwheat noodles. I’ll go eating that refreshing food and return coolly.”

At the training center entrance, many fans gathered to cheer for Kang Tae-oh. They prepared banners with comments, such as “We’re waiting for you. Kim Yoon-hwan, get ready”, “Our Tae-oh. Use him well and return him to us beautifully”, and “Let’s not break up anymore when you get discharged”, and waited for him. A fan who came to meet Kang Tae-oh shared, “I’m sad that he has to enlist when he is doing so good. But as the actor said he would go and return coolly, I want to support him.”

Kang Tae-oh debuted in 2013 through the web drama “After School: Lucky or Not” and made his face known to the public by starring in various works, such as “You Are Too Much”, “The Tale of Nokdu” and “Run On”. He recently rose to stardom after appearing in the hit drama “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” and even gained the nickname “upset man”. In addition, Kang Tae-oh is also a member of the group 5urprise together with Fantagio actors Yoo Il, Seo Kang-joon, Gong Myung, and Lee Tae-hwan.

Kang Tae-oh will serve as an active-duty soldier for 18 months after completing basic military training. To fans who will be upset because of his enlistment, Kang Tae-oh warmly said, “Nanis (his fandom’s name), who love me so much. I’m so thankful and I feel like I’m leaving with so much love. I will try to repay you more in the future. I’ll go on a hiatus for a while but please wait for me because I’ll return with a more mature image.”

Another fan shared, “He has transformed himself through each of his works so many times to the point that it is hard to believe all of those characters were done by the same person. I hope he gets along well with other people even in the military and gains more experience. I hope this experience will nourish his future acting”, adding “Kang Tae-oh previously said he wanted to play different roles, including charismatic ones and villains. I hope the actor can show a variety of acting performances after he returns”. They added, “I hope he won’t film only movies but also appear in dramas to make our hearts flutter”, drawing laughter.

Kang Tae-oh’s real heyday has yet to come. Proving his acting ability through various works, he still has a lot more to show. That’s why drama fans are raising high expectations for the actor’s future activities after he fulfills his military service and returns with a more mature image.
