K-netizens find it difficult to choose representative songs of BIGBANG, BTS and BLACKPINK due to their long lists of hits

BIGBANG, BLACKPINK and BTS named 3 idol groups with so many famous songs that it’s impossible for Korean netizens to pick out their “lifetime” hits. 

Kpop is famous for its high elimination rate and fierce competition. To gain a foothold in the industry, idol groups need to release one or several songs with great popularity and impact that can increase their public recognition. As for top names like BIGBANG, BTS and BLACKPINK, picking out representative songs from their discography is considered to be extremely difficult by Korean netizens.

This is recently a trending topic on Korea’s online community Theqoo. The reason is that BIGBANG, BTS, and BLACKPINK have so many smash hits. So there are always different answers when it comes to one biggest hit of these groups.  

Specifically, since their debut in 2006, along with a career that is full of ups and downs, BIGBANG has released numerous iconic tracks such as Lies, Last Farewell, Haru Haru, Fantastic Baby, BANG BANG BANG, etc. 

BIGBANG, a representative group of the 2nd generation, is always known for their high public recognition and large fan base. BIGBANG’s success helpled YG Entertainment become one of the top entertainment companies in Korea and paved the way for the juniors at YG to develop their careers. 

While BIGBANG is the typical representative of Gen 2, BTS is the leading boy group of Kpop Gen 3. Although coming from a small company, with talent, best efforts and music products that hit the public’s taste such as Fire, Blood, Sweat, & Tears, DNA… BTS quickly became the most sought-after star in the Korean entertainment industry.

Over the years, BTS’s fans can easily see the maturity and diversity in the musical styles of the 7 boys, especially the group’s attack on the European and American market with a series of hits like Boy With Luv, Dynamite, ON, Butter… Therefore, to choose a “lifetime” hit of BTS is extremely difficult, because there are so many successful songs.

BLACKPINK is the only female representative named in this thread.  The group currently has an extremely solid career both in Korea and around the world.  The girls’ charm is shown not only in group activities but also in individual activities.

Successfully debuting with Whistle and BOOMBAYAH, BLACKPINK gradually proved their appeal with many other hits such as As If It’s Your Last, Kill This Love, especially DDU-DU DDU-DU and How You Like That.

• For me, Lies, DDU-DU DDU-DU and Dynamite are the best.
• I really like BLACKPINK’s DDU-DU DDU-DU.  However, I still think TWICE has more hits, so I think TWICE should still be on this list!
• Haru Haru, DDU-DU DDU-DU, Dynamite are my 3 picks.
• Personally, I like BIGBANG’s Fantastic Baby, BLACKPINK’s Whistle, but as for BTS… it’s too difficult.  I can’t pick out one of BTS’ hits, they have so many good songs.
• BIGBANG has so many hits, I personally think it’s Lies.
• BIGBANG’s Lies, BLACKPINK’s DDU-DU DDU-DU and BTS’ Spring Day are my taste.

Some people think that TWICE should still have a “slot” on this list

It can be said that having a song that is well received and popularized by the general public is the goal that all groups strive for. BIGBANG, BTS, and BLACKPINK have all had extremely successful artistic careers. Their products have significantly contributed to the advancement of Kpop, assisting the Korean music industry in establishing its position in the global music market.
