K-netizens react to suspicions of NewJeans Streaming Team copying BTS Streaming Team and gossiping

The controversy related to BTS and NewJeans’s Streaming Teams is drawing keen attention from K-pop fans.

Some netizens recently found out that the design and posts on the Twitter of NewJeans’s Streaming Team looked similar to BTS’s Digital Streaming Team “52Hz”, so they raised suspicions of 52Hz admins working for another idol group.

In response, 52Hz clarified that some people asked them about the codes but they only explained the “method” and never shared the source code with anyone. 

NewJeans Streaming Team said they only took reference from BTS’s 52Hz team and already contacted 52Hz.

Everything seemed to have been solved smoothly until it was exposed that NewJeans Streaming Team did not take 52Hz designs and content as a reference but they purposely copied them.

A netizen, who participated in both Streaming Teams because they like both BTS and NewJeans, released some screenshots of conversations shared between members of NewJeans Streaming Team as proof. 

From the conversations, they also found out that NewJeans Streaming Team members even gossiped and talked behind the back of 52Hz after receiving help from them.

Later, 52Hz expressed their disappointment regarding the issue, saying “We created this site with much time and effort, so we are very upset knowing we’ve been disparaged by other fandom members whom we’ve never met before”.

In response, other netizens commented:

• Don’t touch BTS’s Streaming Team. This is so annoying
• Are you kidding me? You stole someone else’s work and now you’re talking bad about them?
• I’m even angrier because I know how BTS’s Streaming Team has been working hard. They caught you copying their content but they kindly let things go. And now you’re talking behind their backs? If you have pride in your own team, don’t copy others like that
• Don’t mess with BTS’s Streaming Team, seriously. This is so unfair
• Don’t you know that you are ruining your idol’s image?
• You stole someone else’s work and claimed that it’s yours. So shameless
• I can’t believe they even gossip like that
• You made mistakes and you should have at least apologized… Don’t ruin the name of your own idols.
