K-netizens Are Shocked At ITZY’s Poor First Week Album Sales

On January 14, a post was made on the Korean online forum Nate Pann, mentioning ITZY’s recent album sales with its “Born To Be” comeback.

According to this post, the group only sold approximately 276,000 copies during the first week, which is only 1/4 of its last album “CAKE”’s achievement.

The netizen who made the post was so shocked they even wondered if Chinese fans haven’t placed their orders or if the group’s fans boycotted this album.

The post has now gathered approximately 18,000 views after 12 hours. In the comment section, many Internet users have come to leave their opinions.

The top comments are as follows:

  • ““Cake” went up on music charts after being performed on music shows even though it didn’t make it at first, but this song is not climbing the charts even when it’s on music shows. Looking at the ranking of the song, there seem to be a lot of fans’ departures. The song made it to the 101st place on the music chart on the first day, which proves the public doesn’t skip it, but I think they don’t listen because the song is bad.”
  • “Not only ITZY, but other idols will see their album sales decline starting from this year.”
  • “Girlgroups’ song is supposed to be good, but the song is not good enough”
  • “No matter how bad the song is, the fandom has to stream it… You have to keep their song go up on charts when they go to music shows… I think their hair and makeup this time is good and the title isn’t that bad… Isn’t streaming one of the gifts a fan can give to his or her favorite singer?! I don’t understand a bit.”
  • “Its charting is even worse”
